As anyone who has one will know, repeat prescriptions can be quite a burden on your day-to-day life. With 43% of the UK taking prescribed medication of some kind, the hassle of going back-and-forth between GP and pharmacist has become a very common issue.
In fact, it is estimated that when you combine travel time, waiting rooms, consultations and queues, patients spend on average more than three and half hour each month on their prescriptions. And for those who are taking repeat prescriptions for long-term conditions, this has a dramatic impact on their personal and financial affairs.
To explore the problems surrounding repeat prescriptions in more detail, Pharmacy Outlet recently surveyed over 2,000 UK adults. We found that 32% of people have been left without their medication because they have not managed to find the time to visit their GP or pharmacist to collect their repeat prescription.
In light of this alarming finding, it is not surprising to hear that one in three people feel the process of getting a repeat prescription is cumbersome and time-consuming.
To bring these issues to life, Pharmacy Outlet has created a new infographic – take a look below! This illustrates just how serious some of the problems are when it comes to collecting a repeat prescription.
