Why do I need this medicine?
Estradiol belongs to a group of female hormones known as estrogens.

Estradiol is used as hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in menopausal women. It is used to treat menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes, vaginal dryness and itch. Estradiol is also used to prevent osteoporosis in menopausal women.

It is sometimes used in younger women when the ovaries fail to make enough estrogens.

Estradiol is also used to treat other hormonal problems and certain cancers.

How do I take this medicine?
Take Estradiol exactly as directed by your doctor. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.

Estradiol must be taken regularly for it to be effective. Continue taking it even when you feel better. Do not stop taking it unless instructed by your doctor.

You may take Estradiol with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

Try to take it at the same time each day.

What should I do if I have forgotten to take this medicine?
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is more than 12 hours after your missed dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal schedule.

If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
